Dr. Sven Mallach
Research Associate with focus on Computer Science and Mathematics
Research & Academic Background
I am conducting research in mathematical programming and operations research, on the edge between computer science and mathematics, and with a focus on computational methods and numerical implementations of high performance.
Some current highlights:
- Inductive Linearization for (constrained) Binary Quadratic Problems (Theory and Computational Study)
- The step-wise creation of an instance library for Maximum Cut and Unconstrained Binary Quadratic Optimization Problems (prototype state).
- The solver (also available as a web-based service) McSparse for (sparse) Maximum Cut and Unconstrained Binary Quadratic Optimization.
- The relaunch (and step-wise enhancement) of a Spin Glass Server that was previously run at the University of Cologne.
I am also regularly teaching the following courses (current / next editions):
- Summer Term 23: MA-INF 1222 - Lab High Performance Optimization
- Winter Term 23/24: MA-INF 1321 - Lecture & Exercises on Binary Linear and Quadratic Optimization
